Advantages of SteamOS

SteamOS was specifically designed to improve the gaming experience on portable devices. This operating system, which consumes fewer resources compared to Windows and offers a control-based interface, aims to increase performance especially on portable devices. Lenovo Legion Go S will benefit from these optimizations offered by SteamOS and offer a smoother gaming experience.

Valve announced that the beta version of SteamOS will be available for download for other devices between March and May 2025, before the Legion Go S is released. Users will be able to experience the software updates and shader support used in Steam Deck on these devices.

Lenovo’s new model, Legion Go S, offers a more affordable price compared to the Windows version with SteamOS. While the model with Windows 11 operating system starts at $729, the version with SteamOS will be sold for only $499. This is due to the absence of a Windows license cost.

Equipped with the Ryzen Z2 Go processor, the Legion Go S offers a satisfactory option in terms of performance. However, this model has minor restrictions on some features such as screen size, resolution and refresh rate. For those looking for a more powerful option, Lenovo plans to introduce the Legion Go 2 model later in the year.
