Switch 2 Has Already Sold 5 Million Units

Nintendo’s Switch 2, which was released on June 5, has achieved great sales success in a short time. According to a report accidentally published early on the company’s investor relations site, the console managed to sell 5 million units worldwide in just 26 days. This number has almost doubled the sales of both the first-generation Switch and competitors such as the PlayStation 5 in the same period.

Switch 2 Shattered Sales Records

According to Nintendo Soup, Switch 2 sales data prepared for investors was shared early and then quickly removed from publication. However, the short-term report shared revealed the impressive figures the console has reached worldwide. Reaching 5 million sales in just 26 days, the Switch 2 is at the top of the list of fastest-selling consoles to date with this performance.

Switch 2 Has Already Sold 5 Million Units

In comparison, the digital version of the PlayStation 5 sold around 3.4 million units in its first month, while the first Switch model sold 2.74 million. The Switch 2 almost doubled these figures. Moreover, when you consider that the performance of some third-party games fell short of expectations during this time, the potential of the console becomes even more remarkable.

The regional sales distribution also details the success of the Switch 2: 1.8 million units were sold in the Americas, 1.47 million in Japan, 1.18 million in Europe, and 550,000 in other regions. Sales in Japan in particular are reported to have exceeded the figures achieved by the Xbox Series X|S and PS5 digital versions during their entire lifetimes.

Although Nintendo has not yet made an official announcement, this impressive start of the Switch 2 provides a significant advantage in future console competition. Whether this momentum can be maintained with new games and software support remains to be seen.
