Switch 2 Will Be Much More Powerful Than Expected

Nintendo’s new console, the Switch 2, is preparing to make a big splash in the gaming world with its performance. Jerrel Dulay from Sungrand Studios evaluated the technical power of the console through new Mario Kart footage. Dulay stated that the Switch 2 is much more powerful and offers more advanced graphics features compared to the previous Switch model. In particular, real-time shadows, volumetric lighting and models with higher polygon counts showcase the console’s capabilities.

Switch 2’s Graphics and Performance Features

The Switch 2 makes a significant leap in graphics technology. According to Dulay, advanced visual effects such as volumetric lighting and unique textures reveal the new console’s powerful hardware. Stating that the previous Switch model had difficulty running such features at high frame rates, Dulay stated that the Switch 2 has overcome these obstacles.

In addition, the striking details in the Mario Kart footage include cloth simulations, reflective textures, and real-time movement of flags. Dulay estimates that the Switch 2 could have a RAM capacity of 12-16 GB. The fact that all these features run at 60 fps proves how far the console has come in terms of performance.

The Switch 2’s development tools also offer a great advantage for game developers. Jerrel Dulay stated that he had to shelve some game projects due to the limitations of the Unity engine in the previous Switch model. However, he thinks that these projects can now be realized thanks to the more advanced technology of the Switch 2.

Nintendo will share more details about the Switch 2 and its games at the Nintendo Direct event on April 2. It has been announced that the console will be compatible with most Switch games, while early trial opportunities will be offered in select cities in April. The Switch 2 is expected to be released in June.
