Switch 2 Will Offer 90% Charge Limit for Battery Health

According to the information shared by Nintendo, thanks to the new setting called “Stop charging at 90%” in Switch 2, the device can automatically limit the charging process. When this feature is activated, the console cuts off the charge when it reaches approximately 90%, thus aiming to extend the life of the battery. In addition, when this mode is on, the charging process slows down as it approaches the last percentage.

This feature can be activated via the System Settings > System > Stop Charging at 90% menu. Similar battery protection options were previously offered to users on smartphones and laptops. The inclusion of this feature in the Switch 2 aims to ensure that the console has a longer lifespan in mobile use.

According to the data shared by Nintendo, the Switch 2 will offer a battery life of between 2 and 6.5 hours, depending on the software used. This period may be lower compared to the first-generation Switch. However, the new battery protection system can help balance this difference in long-term use of the device. The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to be released on June 5, 2025. Such details, which come with the new-generation hardware, can make the device a longer-term investment.
