Tempest Rising Accidentally Released Early
Tempest Rising, a real-time strategy game that has been on the radar of Command & Conquer fans for a long time, has been made available a week earlier than planned. The game, which was expected to be released on April 24, was made available to all players who pre-ordered on April 17 due to a technical glitch. The development team chose to release the game publicly rather than withdraw it.
The Spirit of Classic Strategy Returns with Tempest Rising
Developed in partnership with Slipgate Ironworks and 2B Games, Tempest Rising draws inspiration from strategy games from the 90s and 2000s. In an alternate history scenario, players command one of the sides fighting for control over the “Tempest vines” spread across the world. In this universe, you can choose between the GDF, a global defense force equipped with modern technology, and the more aggressive and desperate Tempest Dynasty.
Two separate story campaigns, each consisting of 11 missions, offer players different strategies and combat techniques. A third party will only be available in multiplayer mode. Each player has the chance to develop their own tactical approach thanks to pre-mission army customization options. Different unit combinations and weapon systems create an experience that blends the spirit of classic RTS with today’s graphics engines.
Although the game’s early access was a pleasant surprise, especially for pre-order players, Deluxe Edition owners were disappointed that this privilege was offered to everyone. To compensate for this situation, the developers announced that they are working on new in-game bonuses exclusive to Deluxe owners and that these contents will be announced soon.
Players who purchase the game by April 24th can still get the “Commander Pack” pre-order bonuses. Bonus content includes special units, visual customizations, and in-game cosmetics. Tempest Rising seems to please both nostalgics and modern RTS enthusiasts with its structure that aims to fill the void in classic strategy games.
