Netflix has released a trailer for the new Terminator anime series from Skydance, Production I.G, Masashi Kudo and Mattson Tomlin. The trailer offers a first look at the series.
Terminator: Zero Trailer Released
Featuring the voices of Timothy Olyphant, Rosario Dawson, Sonoya Mizuno, André Holland and Ann Dowd, Terminator: Zero tells the story of Malcolm Lee, a scientist who develops an artificial intelligence that can compete with Skynet. Lee finds himself and his three children being pursued by an unknown robot assassin.
While the trailer doesn’t give much away, no one can argue that it doesn’t look like the other installments of the Terminator franchise. Classic elements like androids with half their faces missing, a nuclear apocalypse and a cool looking heroine are all present in the trailer. There are also striking new images of a T-800 wearing a parka and a small cave search-and-rescue robot in a yellow raincoat.
The trailer promises that “this is not what you think it is”, suggesting a new and subversive approach to familiar material. But as it concludes, “there’s no going back, not really”. So it’s hard to know what to expect.
Terminator: Zero will be released exclusively on Netflix on August 29th.
