The Actors Who Will Portray Thor and Odin in God of War have been Announced
As the God of War series continues to take shape, one of the most eagerly awaited details for fans has been revealed. With the addition of new cast members, the final decision has been made regarding two central characters from mythology.
Who will play Thor and Odin in the God of War series?
The father of the gods, Odin, will be portrayed by veteran actress Mandy Patinkin. Known for her performance as Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride, Patinkin will appear as the absolute ruler of Asgard and one of the most powerful figures in the Norse pantheon.
The role of Thor, the god of thunder, has been entrusted to Ólafur Darri Ólafsson. The actor, who attracted attention with his tough and menacing character in the Apple TV+ series Severance, will this time present a different and more vulnerable portrayal of Thor.
According to information from the production company, Thor will be portrayed in the series as a former warrior of Asgard and Odin’s right-hand man. However, the character will be depicted as struggling with self-esteem issues and alcoholism due to his past experiences. This approach aims to offer a more dramatic and humane interpretation of Thor than the portrayal in the video games.
Ryan Hurst was previously announced as Kratos, and interestingly, Hurst also voiced Thor in the God of War Ragnarök video game. Teresa Palmer will also play Thor’s wife, Sif. The series, which is scheduled to begin filming in 2026, has already received a second season renewal before a release date has been announced.
