The Batman Part II Has Been Delayed Once Again
The long wait for The Batman Part II has been extended with another delay. Despite filming having already begun on the sequel, which will see Robert Pattinson reprise his role as Bruce Wayne, Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios have changed the release schedule. While the reason for the delay hasn’t been announced, the decision has sparked debate due to both the film’s production process and its potential impact on other DC Batman projects.
The Batman Part II to be Released in 2028
The Batman Part II will be released on February 18, 2028, instead of the previously announced October 1, 2027 date. DC Studios and Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed the new schedule but did not share the reason behind the change. Following the announcement, director Matt Reeves released a new image of Robert Pattinson in Batman costume on social media.
Had the film remained on its original schedule, it would have hit theaters just months after James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow. This would have marked the first time Warner Bros. released live-action Batman and Superman films in the same year. The new postponement eliminates this possibility, resulting in the two major DC productions being released further apart.
Robert Pattinson’s Batman series runs outside the main DC Universe under James Gunn and Peter Safran. However, the date change is thought to potentially impact The Brave and the Bold. James Gunn has previously stated that he doesn’t want to release two different cinematic interpretations of Bruce Wayne at the same time. Therefore, it’s speculated that the new DCU Batman film could also wait a few more years.
The fact that filming has already begun is one of the most debated aspects of the decision. While Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, and Brian Tyree Henry have joined the cast, details about their characters are largely being kept secret. Although it’s been rumored that Stan might reprise his role as Harvey Dent or Victor Zsasz, the studio has yet to confirm this. The plot of Batman Part II has not yet been officially revealed.
