The Story Will Be Better in Stellar Blade 2

Stellar Blade managed to reach a large player base in a short time with its impressive visuals, fluid fighting mechanics and music. However, the common opinion of the fans was that the game’s story could not keep up with this success. The game’s director Kim Hyung-tae confirmed that they aim to change this situation with his new statements.

The Narrative Will Be Stronger in Stellar Blade 2

Kim Hyung-tae openly admitted in an interview with This Is Game that Stellar Blade’s story was insufficient. He stated that the game’s basic gameplay mechanics were completed in the early stages, but the cutscenes that would support the narrative were more costly than expected. For this reason, scenes that would deepen the game’s world and characters had to be canceled due to budget constraints.

Hyung-tae emphasized that in action games, the story cannot be told only through gameplay, and that cutscenes play a very important role in this regard. However, when the cost of these scenes became uncontrollable during the development process, only the parts that conveyed the main story were preserved and other details were shelved.

Nevertheless, Shift Up studio is pleased with the positive feedback and the wide audience that Stellar Blade reached, especially with the PC version. The team, which plans to carry this success to the sequel, promises to offer players a fuller story.

Kim Hyung-tae said, “I believe that we will offer a richer narrative in the next project,” and gave hope that they will satisfy fans on the story side in Stellar Blade 2. This statement has already raised the expectations of players who follow the series.
