Tomb Raider’s New Mobile Game On The Way
While Tomb Raider fans await a new adventure for Lara Croft, the spin-off game Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, which differs from the classic structure of the series, is being brought to mobile platforms. Feral Interactive announced that the game will be released on iOS and Android devices on February 27. The game, which was first released on Xbox Live and PSN platforms in 2010, attracted attention with its fixed camera angle and co-op gameplay. This production, which does not use the Tomb Raider name, focuses on Lara’s fight against the evil spirit Xolotl together with the ancient Mayan warrior Totec.
A Different Experience from the Classic Tomb Raider
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light has a fixed camera angle structure and team-based gameplay, unlike the traditional gameplay of the Tomb Raider series. The game blends Lara Croft’s world full of action and puzzles with Mayan mythology. This mobile adaptation brings the game to a different platform after Lara Croft Collection, which was previously released for Nintendo Switch in 2023.
In addition to the mobile game, the Tomb Raider universe continues to expand with different projects. A Tomb Raider live-action series is in development on Prime Video, and it is rumored that Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner could play the lead role. However, Netflix’s animated series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft has been confirmed for a second season. The next main Tomb Raider game to be released by Amazon will not be connected to the live-action series.
For console players, modern versions of old Tomb Raider games are on the way. The collection called Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered will be coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms on February 14. This collection includes Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, Tomb Raider: Chronicles and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness.
The Tomb Raider universe continues to offer its fans a wealth of content on different platforms with mobile games, series and remastered classic games. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, which will be released on February 27, will make a significant contribution to this diversity.
