Virtua Fighter Crossroads Announced
Virtua Fighter Crossroads, previously known as Virtua Fighter New Project, was unveiled at Summer Game Fest as a new fighting game. SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio showed that the new game in the series will preserve the classic Virtua Fighter legacy while experimenting with a bolder, more narrative-driven, and cinematic approach. The first trailer reveals both the new fighter Cielo and the game’s ability to add a different atmosphere to the familiar fighting formula.
Virtua Fighter Crossroads Coming in 2027
According to SEGA’s announcement, Virtua Fighter Crossroads will be released in 2027. Platform information has not yet been shared, but the game’s official name and initial details are now clear. The game is positioned as a new Virtua Fighter experience where RGG Studio will approach the fighting game genre from a different angle.
One of the standout characters in the initial teaser was Cielo. The trailer offered a brief glimpse into the game’s cinematic storytelling and intense action through Cielo. SEGA states that the new game will focus on an untold story in a previously unseen city. This suggests that Crossroads will not only rely on classic matchmaking but also build a stronger narrative through its characters and world.
However, it won’t completely abandon the series’ identity. The realistic fighting system, simple controls, and skillful encounters that are fundamental to Virtua Fighter will be retained. SEGA also announced that a Virtua Fighter Crossroads Showcase event will be held, where more information about the game will be shared.
