Warhammer 40K: Dark Heresy Announced
The Warhammer 40,000 universe continues to expand. Owlcat Games, which received acclaim with Rogue Trader, is taking the stage with a darker and more story-driven action RPG. The newly announced Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy will put players in the shoes of an Inquisitor tasked with enforcing the Emperor’s will. The game is being developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG) platforms.
Warhammer 40K: Dark Heresy Details
Dark Heresy aims to offer players a rich narrative with its classic CRPG structure. In the game, we manage an Inquisitor trying to uncover heresies, conspiracies and betrayals in the region called Calixis Sector. Acting with the motto “Without faith, there is no salvation”, players will form a team of allies, each with different backgrounds, and make decisions that will determine fate.
The game’s notable features are:
- Story-Focused CRPG: Deep dialogues, events affected by choices, and striking narrative.
- Fine-Detailed Investigations: Interrogate criminals, collect clues, and solve conspiracies.
- Strategy and Morale in Battle: Target enemy weaknesses in turn-based battles, gain combat advantage by keeping team morale high.
- Diverse Characters: Characters with full voice-overs from different origins, from a Catachan Imperial Guard to a Kroot-type mercenary.
- The Only Light in the Dark: As a hero representing the power of the Inquisition, you are the last defense in places where hope has long been lost.
The game, which has not yet announced a clear release date, promises to offer a dark, questioning, and political narrative that has never been seen before in the Warhammer universe. Considering the success of Owlcat Games’ previous projects, Dark Heresy seems like one of the productions that Warhammer fans should put on their radar.
