A Statement Was Made About the Cancellation of the Wonder Woman Game

“Our goal is to develop the best games by focusing on our core brands such as Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, DC, and Game of Thrones,” the company said in a statement. Speaking about the cancellation of the Wonder Woman game, officials said, “We aimed to deliver the highest quality for this iconic character, but this is no longer among our strategic priorities.”

The closure of Monolith Productions was described as a difficult decision despite the studio’s history of “delivering epic fan experiences.” The company emphasized that these changes were not related to the talent or quality of the teams’ work, but rather a decision aimed at completely new business goals.

Warner Bros. Games has faced economic difficulties recently. Despite successful games such as Hogwarts Legacy, which was released in 2023, the company made a loss in the last quarter and some projects did not perform as expected. In particular, games such as MultiVersus falling short of expectations were effective in making these decisions.

The company’s CEO David Zaslav stated that the game unit needed to show more consistent performance and that this restructuring process was important to achieve this goal. It was stated that Warner Bros. Games will focus on fewer but larger projects in the future.
