Who Should Sadie Sink Play in Spider-Man Brand New Day?
With Spider-Man Brand New Day, a brand new era begins for Peter Parker. Following the memory-erasing finale of No Way Home, Peter is now completely alone, a street-level hero once again behind his mask. The character Sadie Sink will portray in the story, said to take place four years later, remains a mystery. However, while Jean Grey is the most prominent name mentioned for Sadie Sink, this choice may not be as logical as we think.
Firestar May Be the Most Logical Option for Sadie Sink
The Jean Grey rumors have gained strength, especially due to the future of the X-Men in the MCU. When you have a red-haired, powerful mutant and an actress with high star potential, Jean is the first name that comes to mind. Moreover, rumors of the DODC hunting mutants fuel this theory. However, introducing an iconic character like Jean Grey in a Spider-Man film could be a risky start for the X-Men.
Jean Grey is one of the most powerful and significant mutants in the Marvel universe. Placing her in Spider-Man’s street-focused storyline could diminish the character’s weight and create confusion for future X-Men projects. Furthermore, given Jean’s power level, the idea that she needs Spider-Man’s help to escape the DODC might not seem convincing.
At this point, Firestar emerges as a more balanced option. Originally created in a Spider-Man animation, Firestar was later incorporated into the comic book canon. This mutant, notable for her heat control and fire-based powers, is both powerful enough to create a threat and not as “universe-changing” a character as Jean. This makes her an ideal supporting character for Brand New Day.
Moreover, considering Peter is now detached from his old supporting characters, building a new support roster is essential. Firestar can be used both as a potential ally and as a character who could reappear in the future. With Sadie Sink’s star power, Firestar can be transformed into a much larger figure; But it also allows the MCU to move forward without disrupting the X-Men plans.
