Will Oblivion Remastered Come to Switch 2 Too?
The legendary game of The Elder Scrolls series, Oblivion, is on the agenda with its renewed version, and now it is being talked about again with claims that it may come to Nintendo’s next-generation console, Switch 2. Although it has not been officially confirmed yet, this rumor is supported by technical data and previous port experiences. The studio, which was involved in the development process of the game, had previously adapted many major productions for the Switch platform. This shows that it is quite possible for Oblivion Remastered to be playable on Switch 2.
Switch 2 Claim Strengthens for Oblivion Remastered
According to a claim conveyed by GoNintendo, work on the Switch 2 version of Oblivion Remastered may have begun. The source of this claim is a leak account named extas1stv. Although there is no official statement yet, the technical requirements of the game and the game engine used make this possibility quite reasonable. When we look at the system requirements listed on Steam, it is seen that even processors released in 2016 are sufficient. This suggests that the Switch 2 is capable of running this game.
The fact that the game was developed with Unreal Engine 5 is also an important detail. It was previously officially announced that Switch 2 would receive native support for both Unreal Engine 4 and Unreal Engine 5. This shows that not only Oblivion Remastered but also many games developed with this engine can be easily ported to the console. Moreover, this situation can also produce satisfactory results in terms of performance.
The inclusion of Virtuos studio, which has previously worked on port projects for the Switch platform, in the Oblivion Remastered project also strengthens the claims. Virtuos had previously adapted challenging games such as Dying Light and The Outer Worlds to the Switch. Although there were performance discussions in these games, successful examples such as NieR: Automata also attracted attention. The studio’s experience may provide an advantage in porting this project to the Switch 2.
Finally, comments that the technical capacity of the Switch 2 has now begun to break the perception of “weak Nintendo hardware” accompany this development. Having a structure that can run ambitious games like Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077 could also mean a green light for Oblivion Remastered. Nvidia’s special investments for this console signal that we may encounter more “impossible ports” in the future.
