Witcher 4 Shows Its Power with Unreal Engine 5

The technical demo shared with the trailer takes players on a journey from the mountains and forests of Kovir to the port city of Valdrest. The scenes featuring Ciri and her horse Kelpie showcase the advanced features of Unreal Engine 5 such as Nanite Foliage technology, MetaHuman support, Mass AI systems and ML Deformer. These technologies enable an open-world experience full of dense crowds, realistic animations and fast-loading environments.

CD Projekt RED and Epic Games’ collaboration, which began in 2022, aims to further advance open-world technology. The tools used in the development process of Witcher 4 are also being made available to all developers with the Unreal Engine 5.6 release. This paves the way for similar quality open worlds to be created by different game studios.

No official release date has yet been announced for Witcher 4. However, the visuals and technical infrastructure presented by the trailer have greatly increased fans’ expectations. The game will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC platforms.
