Wonder Man Trailer Shows First Traces of Marvel’s New Era
The trailer highlights the story, which begins with Simon Williams learning about renowned director Von Kovak’s decision to direct a new superhero film. Kovak is played by Zlatko Buric, and in the trailer’s interview scene, he brings a meta touch to the Marvel universe by referencing the issue of “superhero fatigue.” The announcement of Kovak’s new project, Wonder Man, has generated significant buzz among both the series’ characters and viewers.
The series is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for his work on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Cretton, who also co-created the series, is joined by Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Community screenwriter Andrew Guest. The series also features Demetrius Grosse, Byron Bowers, and Lauren Glazier, with Marvel fans reprising their roles as Ben Kingsley (Trevor Slattery) and Arian Moayed (P. Cleary).
Marvel describes Wonder Man as “a love letter to Hollywood, acting, and cinema.” The story follows actor Simon Williams as he transitions from his film world to the superhero universe. With his acquired powers, the character embraces the identity of “Wonder Man” and questions the very concept of heroism under the bright lights of Hollywood.
With this trailer, Wonder Man opens the door to a more humorous, meta, and character-driven narrative within the Marvel universe. The series aims to offer a fresh perspective on the superhero genre and make a strong start to Marvel’s Phase 6. Come January 2026, Marvel fans will be in for a completely different hero story set behind the scenes of Hollywood.
