Xbox to Unveil New Startup Sound on May 13th

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma showed the new startup sound in a social media post. According to the announcement, this new sound will arrive on consoles on Wednesday, May 13th. It seems less like a major, radical change and more like a revamped version of the existing startup sound. However, some differences are noticeable upon careful listening.

The new startup sound is slightly shorter and higher pitched than the previous version. It’s also been redesigned to better align with Xbox’s revamped logo animation. Therefore, while the change might not seem radical at first glance, considering it alongside the brand’s new visual identity, it’s clear the aim is a more cohesive presentation.

Since Asha Sharma took over, Xbox has seen more frequent changes. Recently, it was announced that the console version of Copilot would be discontinued, and support for mobile devices would also be reduced. Furthermore, the addition of individuals with Microsoft CoreAI backgrounds to the Xbox leadership team indicates a new organizational structure for the company.

The new startup sound isn’t a major transformation in itself, but it can be seen as a small part of Xbox’s brand identity renewal process.
