YouTuber Reaches Far Lands in Minecraft After 14 Years
One of Minecraft‘s longest-running stories has finally come to an end. YouTuber KurtJMac, who began his “Far Lands or Bust” series in 2011, has reached his goal after 14 years. The creator, who walked to the Far Lands region, known as the game’s legendary map border, not only made gaming history but also earned his place in the Guinness World Records.
A Legendary Minecraft Walk That Lasted 14 Years
KurtJMac began this epic adventure in March 2011, in Minecraft’s Beta 1.7.3. His goal was to reach the Far Lands region, a region that pushes the game’s mathematical boundaries. This region is approximately 12,550,821 blocks away from Earth, and the game’s code structure is so corrupted that the terrain takes on strange shapes, like a giant wall. While players usually use cheats to reach it, KurtJMac walked the entire way.
This journey, spanning hundreds of episodes over the years, has become not only a personal challenge but also a charitable campaign. KurtJMac has continued his “Far Lands or Bust” series to raise funds for various charities. He has raised nearly $500,000 to date, earning him a Guinness World Record for “the largest individual fundraising walk in a video game.”
Reaching the Far Lands requires not only patience but also technical achievement. In older versions of Minecraft, world generation begins to deteriorate after a certain point. Very few players have managed to reach this point. KurtJMac, however, has become one of the few who has achieved this feat, having progressed continuously for 14 years.
For now, the YouTuber hasn’t announced his plans after this long journey. However, as he himself stated, the possibility of “a little Minecraft break” is quite high. Nevertheless, this historic achievement is seen as a turning point not only for the Minecraft community but for the entire gaming world. Far Lands is no longer just a legend, but a symbol of perseverance.
