A Bug in Destiny 2 has Made it Easier to Farm Powerful T5 Armor

Destiny 2 is going through a rather strange period after development support largely ended. While some bugs are being addressed by disabling content, useful bugs are often left untouched for extended periods. A recent method discovered by the community makes things much easier, especially for those looking to complete powerful armor sets.

How to Use the Destiny 2 T5 Armor Bug

According to a method shared by a player named Renny, T5 armor obtained from Master Lost Sector missions is sent to the Postmaster as encryptable Engrams when the Engram inventory is full. Players can then open these Engrams in specific locations to access set pieces that are normally more difficult to obtain. Since short Lost Sector missions like The Conflux can be completed in less than a minute with the right equipment, the method works quite quickly.

Engrams unlocked through the Postmaster in Neptune transform into Thunderhead armor pieces, while those unlocked in Pale Heart transform into First Ascent armor pieces. To unlock them, you need to fill your Engram inventory with Bright or Exotic Engrams. The frequent Exotic Engram drop in Master Lost Sector missions also makes preparation easier. In short, once you establish a routine, you can repeat this process over and over.

The Thunderhead set is particularly valuable in PvE. Its two-piece License to Thrill bonus provides resistance to close-range damage when using grenades or activating Nanotech Tracer Missiles. Its four-piece Lethal Wave bonus grants grenade energy by defeating dissolving enemies. The First Ascent set also offers powerful set bonuses that accelerate Transcendence energy when dealing damage with different elements.

A similar bug was previously exploited with the Ferropotent, Smoke Jumper, and Techsec sets. Since Bungie no longer has a full-time team dedicated to Destiny 2, the likelihood of this new exploit being fixed seems quite low. Serious issues are usually resolved by deactivating the content, but exploits like these that give the player an advantage aren’t prioritized. Therefore, Destiny 2 players might want to act quickly to complete the Thunderhead and First Ascent sets.
