A Free Mexico Expansion is Coming to Red Dead Redemption 2
A remarkable mod is being prepared for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, after Rockstar hasn’t released a new story expansion for the game in years. The project, titled Nuevo Paraíso – The Forgotten Frontier, brings back the Mexican region remembered from the first Red Dead Redemption in a more comprehensive and playable way. Moreover, the mod won’t just offer a new map; it aims to transform the region into a living, dynamic playable area.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Mexico Mod Coming September 16th
Developed by YouTuber Rixus, the mod’s release date has been announced as September 16th. Nuevo Paraíso is not an accessible area in the normal gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2 and can only be approached through certain off-limits methods. The new mod makes this area directly explorable, while also making various visual and structural changes to match the 1907 era.
According to the developer, players can expect a Mexico on the brink of change. New settlements, hidden areas, activities, encounters, mysteries, easter eggs, wildlife, and classic characters are among the content offered by the mod. The plan is for the region to be not just a vast landscape, but filled with intense activity.
Players will be able to explore many locations, from quiet towns to remote farms, from railroads to bandit camps and government-controlled areas. Activities such as traveling by train and robbing trains, trading with merchants, and raiding gang hideouts will also be directly part of the gameplay.
Nuevo Paraíso – The Forgotten Frontier will be released for free via NexusMods and will only work on the PC version. A valid copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 will be required to use it. While the mod team aims to take the region beyond its original boundaries, Red Dead Redemption fans will experience the long-awaited return to Mexico, this time thanks to the community.
