A Nintendo Fan’s 40-Year Collection Vanished Overnight

Roger Holler, who lives in Washington, had been collecting Nintendo games since childhood. This passion, which began with the first NES his mother bought him when he was 11, grew over the years to over 860 games. Holler was just three games away from completing his NES library when, while out of town with his family, his home was burglarized and almost his entire collection was stolen.

The Nintendo Collection Was Worth $100,000

It is estimated that the total value of Holler’s collection of over 860 NES games is between $50,000 and $100,000. However, the financial loss is not the main concern for the collector. Holler had built this archive over the years by visiting stores and game fairs, and later shared the same hobby with his own children.

When the family returned home, they discovered the shelves containing their games had been completely emptied. Holler says the sight deeply affected him, and he no longer wants to look at empty shelves. The majority of the games in the collection were not only rare pieces but also part of personal memories spanning years.

Holler’s plan was to leave the collection to his grandchildren one day. He even believed the games’ future value could help with their education. Therefore, the theft means not just the loss of a retro game archive, but also the destruction of a legacy intended to be passed down through generations.

The family reported the incident to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office and has begun proceedings with the insurance company. Holler’s son says his father would likely forgive the person who took the games if they returned them. Holler himself says he no longer wants to collect anything after this incident. Whether the Nintendo collection can be recovered remains uncertain.
