A new game is being developed in the Alien universe
The Alien franchise is preparing to make a comeback in the gaming world. After a long period of silence, and seemingly shelved for a while, it has been learned that the new Alien game is back in development. The information suggests that a new survival experience focusing on the series’ dark atmosphere is on the way.
The Alien Game Will Offer a Survival Challenge on a Space Station
According to the shared information, the new Alien game is based on a single-player, arcade-focused survival horror structure. Players will try to survive on a decaying space station. In this process, they will have to face not only the xenomorph threat but also special operations forces. The current state of the game is described as a “Shadow of the Tomb Raider with xenomorphs” in terms of gameplay.
The new Alien game actually has quite a long history. It’s stated that the project has been developed under different codenames since 2020 and has changed studios multiple times. While it was once thought to be completely canceled, recent documents indicate it’s currently being developed by Eidos Montreal. This suggests the project is back on solid ground.
In terms of gameplay, it’s planned to combine combat, platforming, and puzzles. Players will frequently need to utilize stealth, resource management, and problem-solving skills. Puzzles will revolve around system repair, code decoding, and environmental interactions, while enemy AI will react according to the player’s tactics. This aims to make each encounter feel different.
The game is said to feature at least three characters. The main character, Aubrey, is described as an engineer who uses various pieces of equipment. Ryuzo is expected to be a figure who controls the space station and takes on an antagonist role. The game is also planned to feature the character Ripley 8, and it’s reported that Sigourney Weaver has been contacted for the role, although no agreement has been finalized yet.
The early budget for the new Alien game is said to be under $75 million, but it’s a significant increase compared to previous years. While the targeted release year is currently 2028, it’s emphasized that the game is still in early development and plans may change. Although no official announcement has been made, the information suggests that an ambitious return to the Alien universe is being prepared.
