A Player Waiting for GTA 6 has Started Making His Own Massive Open-World Game
GTA 6 continues to test players’ patience with its delayed release date. While Rockstar Games’ explanation that they need time to refine the game is understandable, the wait is still quite long for many fans. However, some players are not just waiting. One of them has taken things a step further and started developing his own GTA 6-like open-world game.
He Decided to Make His Own Game Instead of GTA 6
AI entrepreneur Ziwen attracted attention with his project launched on social media. His goal is quite ambitious: “To come out before the real GTA 6.” Ziwen said that he switched to a Claude Max 20x subscription to start the project and that he is starting without studio or publisher support. He also invited people who can do modeling, coding, level design, music and story writing to participate in the project.
The images that emerged in the early days of the project were quite early and in a rough stage. While the first tests showed simple areas and basic character movements, more systems began to be added in the following days. Updates revealed that elements such as Roblox-like characters, shaky grounds, menu screens, and loading systems were included in the game.
One of the most striking moments was a cinematic scene where crocodiles fell from the sky. This bizarre detail showed that the project was progressing both seriously and in a highly chaotic manner. Ziwen’s approach also reveals how far the AI-powered “vibe coding” culture can go in game development.
For now, the game is certainly not at the level of Rockstar’s massive budget production. Ziwen stated that he developed the project on Godot but encountered some limitations at the AAA scale. Therefore, he plans to test the Unity side as well. While it doesn’t seem very likely to surpass GTA 6, this crazy experiment has already managed to attract attention on social media.
