Assassin’s Creed Origins Crashes in User Reviews
Released in 2017, Assassin’s Creed Origins received positive reviews from critics and was appreciated by players. However, due to technical issues experienced after Windows 11’s 24H2 update, the game was bombarded with negative comments from Steam users. Players reported serious problems such as the game crashing, black screen issues, and freezing, lowering the game’s final review score from “Very Positive” to “Mixed.”
Windows 11 Update Hits Assassin’s Creed Origins
The source of the problem is not Ubisoft, but Microsoft’s Windows 11 24H2 update. Many players reported that the game would not open or became unplayable after this update. Although Ubisoft and Microsoft announced that they were aware of the problem and working on a solution, a permanent solution has not yet been offered. For now, the only temporary solution is to revert to the previous version of Windows, 23H2. However, this method is not a very practical option for many players.
Another thing that made the situation worse was that Ubisoft offered the game for sale at a 90% discount during the winter sale. Some players took advantage of the discount and purchased the game, but expressed their disappointment due to the problems they experienced. A user on Steam reacted by saying, “You are offering a big discount, but the game is unplayable. SHAMEFUL!”
This unfortunate situation experienced by Assassin’s Creed Origins caused Ubisoft to have a bad start to 2025. The company had failed to meet expectations in recent years with projects such as XDefiant and Star Wars Outlaws. However, it aims to renew trust with big productions such as the new Assassin’s Creed game announced for 2025.
Although the technical problem experienced by Assassin’s Creed Origins does not damage Ubisoft’s reputation, it does test the patience of players. Whether the game can return to its former glory depends on how quickly Microsoft and Ubisoft can solve this problem.
