It’s long been known that Call of Duty would be coming to Nintendo Switch 2, but the real question was the release date. Now, new clues emerging from game files suggest that Activision’s plans may point to a date earlier than 2026, increasing excitement on the Nintendo side.

A recent datamine revealed that new lines added to Call of Duty HQ files directly refer to Nintendo’s “platform family” and “account type” terms. This detail suggests that Switch 2 is no longer just a long-term goal, but is beginning to be included among actively supported platforms. The fact that these codes are in the same category as console and PC platforms indicates that preparations have progressed to an advanced stage.

This development aligns with statements made last year by Xbox and Activision executives. Following the Black Ops 7 announcement, it was clearly emphasized that Nintendo hardware was “strategically important” for the Call of Duty brand. Therefore, it appears that the planned Switch 2 version is not just a side project, but a part of the series’ main roadmap.

On the other hand, the potential offered by Nintendo platforms for live service games cannot be ignored. The success of titles like Fortnite and Apex Legends on the Switch shows that Call of Duty could reach a similar audience. With the hardware leap of the Switch 2, a more technically ambitious version of the series is now a much more realistic possibility.

However, caution is advised. The presence of references to platforms like Ubisoft Connect, which currently don’t sell Call of Duty, within the same datamine suggests that these codes may still be in the testing or preparation phase.
