Why Isn’t Horizon Steel Frontier Coming to PS5?
In an interview with the Japanese press, NCSoft CEO Lee Song confirmed that the most frequently asked question on this topic is “Why isn’t there a PlayStation version?” Song stated, “There’s no reason why it shouldn’t be on PlayStation; we want it too,” adding that while they are open to a PS5 release, the decision isn’t entirely up to them. The company is reportedly currently in discussions with Sony regarding this matter.
This announcement sparked speculation among some players that Sony may have made the decision. It’s rumored that Sony may be pursuing different plans for mobile and PC due to its platform strategy. Eurogamer has requested a statement from Sony, but has yet to receive an official response.
NCSoft’s new game, “Horizon Steel Frontier,” is described as a survival adventure set in dangerous areas called “Deathlands,” filled with giant machines. In the game, players will participate in large-scale raids across vast landscapes as “machine hunters” and an advanced combat system.
Following the announcement, Guerrilla Games’ studio head stated that the Horizon universe was always designed for a multiplayer experience. This suggests that Steel Frontier could be a significant turning point in the series’ future. However, one question remains unanswered for PS5 players: “When will we get to play?”
