Code Violet Could Be a Huge Disaster

Code Violet unexpectedly became the focus of controversy on PlayStation in the early days of 2026. The game, which holds the title of the first exclusive title of the new year, painted a negative picture with reviews coming in just days before its release. Initial reviews of Code Violet suggest that the game may not have a very good start for Sony.

First Reviews of Code Violet Are Alarming

Code Violet is preparing for its PlayStation 5 exclusive release on January 10th. The game tells the story of time traveler Violet Sinclair as she explores a mysterious facility and confronts deadly dinosaurs. In this respect, the game is described by many players as a Dino Crisis-like experience.

However, the similarities have become the focus of criticism rather than generating nostalgia. The first reviews published before the game’s early access period revealed that Code Violet suffered from serious technical and gameplay issues. Although only two major publications have reviewed the game so far, the picture is not encouraging.

The reviews highlight the game’s weak third-person shooter mechanics, mediocre level designs, and frequent technical glitches that detract from the experience. The low scores given to Code Violet in both reviews indicate a shared opinion regarding the game’s overall quality.

This also represents an unfortunate start for developer TeamKill Media. On the other hand, the main reason Code Violet is a PlayStation exclusive is that the studio did not want to port the game to PC. The development team had previously stated openly that they did not want the character to be used with inappropriate mods.
