According to Alinea Analytics data, Subnautica 2 is the most wishlisted game on Steam among games with a 2026 release date. Approximately 3.8 million players have added the game to their wishlists. This number surpasses Forza Horizon 6 by 1.2 million and also overtakes Resident Evil Requiem, which is in third place with 2.5 million.

Of course, the fact that Subnautica 2’s Steam page has been open for a long time may have contributed to this picture. However, Steam’s ranking system takes into account not only the total number but also “velocity,” or the rate at which new games are added. This shows that interest hasn’t completely waned and that new players are still considering the game.

On the other hand, the project has been at the center of controversy for some time. Last summer’s departures from the development team and Krafton’s decision to postpone the early access process caused a major stir. While the publisher defended the delay as being to maintain quality, claims that the promised $250 million bonus affected the process dominated the headlines for a long time.

Despite all this uncertainty, Subnautica 2’s popularity among players remains strong. While an official gameplay update is expected for the game, which is planned for release in 2026, wishlist data already reveals that the game has great launch potential.
