Leon was Right in Front of our Eyes Two Years Earlier in Resident Evil Requiem
Resident Evil Requiem may have been subtly hinted at long before its official announcement. The possibility of Leon Kennedy appearing in Resident Evil Requiem was a long-running topic of discussion, with Capcom remaining quite secretive about it. However, a new detail suggests the clues go back two years.
Where Did the Resident Evil Requiem Hint Come From?
A social media post from 2024 by Nick Apostolides, who voiced Leon Kennedy in recent games, has resurfaced. At the time, this post didn’t attract much attention, but it shows Apostolides holding an axe wrapped in pink tape. The photo is believed to be from a motion capture process.
The message he wrote under the post, “Today was a really good day of my life. I’m grateful for this project and everyone around me. Eyes on the road,” was perceived at the time as just another day on set. However, after seeing Leon actually use an axe in Resident Evil Requiem, it’s now thought that this post was a very deliberate reference.
Resident Evil Requiem was officially announced for Summer 2025. Apostolides’ post, however, comes about a year and a half before that announcement. Considering the timeline and Leon’s role in the game, this “coincidence” doesn’t seem entirely innocent.
Given Capcom’s efforts to keep Leon hidden until the last minute, this small clue was right in front of our eyes. At the time, nobody knew Leon would be using an axe in Requiem. Looking back, it seems Apostolides was subtly hinting to players.
