Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson unveiled the next game in the Battlefield series, describing it as one of the most ambitious projects in the studio’s history. Wilson didn’t give many details about the new Battlefield game, but said EA has assembled the best team to deliver this epic experience.
EA Announced New Battlefield Game: Most Ambitious Project On The Way
Battlefield 2042 received massive criticism when it was released in 2021. Technical issues and poor performance were cited as the main reasons for the negative feedback. However, fans of the series believed in the game’s potential with EA’s support and received three years of post-launch support and seven seasons of new content. According to EA CEO Andrew Wilson, this commitment has enabled Battlefield 2042 to reach more than 25 million players in the last twelve months. Wilson said the game’s large fan base is “energized” by what the team has done and what it will deliver in the future.
During the financial earnings report for the first quarter of 2025, EA CEO Andrew Wilson briefly touched on the new Battlefield game and the current state of Battlefield 2042. Support for Battlefield 2042 will end after the seventh season and EA will shift its focus to the new Battlefield game. Wilson emphasized that this project is one of the studio’s “top priorities” and “one of the most ambitious projects in EA’s history.”
EA Wants to Deliver an Epic Battlefield Experience
Andrew Wilson said that EA has provided the Battlefield team with the resources and technology to deliver an epic Battlefield experience. He also said that each season of Battlefield 2042 demonstrates that the team has a “unique ability to listen, learn and be inspired by the community.”
