Forza Horizon 6 File Size Surprises Players

Forza Horizon 6 has become available for pre-loading shortly before its release. Playground Games’ new open-world racing game is preparing to meet players with its vast map set in Japan and over 550 vehicles. However, the first thing those waiting for the game should pay attention to isn’t the graphic mods or the vehicle list, but rather its massive file size.

How Much Space Will Forza Horizon 6 Take Up?

According to information shared by Playground Games, Forza Horizon 6 will require at least 135 GB of free space on Xbox Series X. On the Xbox Series S, the file size is stated as 130 GB. The situation is even more serious for the PC version; 160 GB of free storage space and an SSD are required to install the game. These figures represent a significant increase compared to the file sizes of Forza Horizon 5 at launch.

For comparison, Forza Horizon 5 took up approximately 103 GB of space on PC and Xbox Series X/S upon launch. The new game requiring 160 GB on PC could be frustrating, especially for players with limited storage space. While these sizes aren’t surprising in large open-world games anymore, we’re still talking about a fairly high size for a racing game.

Those who pre-ordered the game or have active Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscriptions can already pre-download it. Players who purchased the physical version can also find the game in the store via the Xbox mobile app and start pre-loading by selecting the “download to console” option. This is a significant convenience for those who don’t want to wait a long time for a download on release day.

Forza Horizon 6’s early access for Premium Edition owners will begin on May 15th. The general release will be on May 19th. The PlayStation 5 version is also planned for release later this year, and the file size is expected to be similar. In short, you’ll need to clear out your storage space before heading out onto the Japanese roads.
