Gordon Freeman has been Added to Deadlock

A new mod developed for Deadlock has brought Gordon Freeman, an iconic character from the Half-Life universe, into the game. While Valve hasn’t made an official move despite long-standing rumors about Half-Life 3, this community-driven action has attracted attention. The fact that Deadlock has historically been associated with a Half-Life project also makes this addition symbolic.

Gordon Freeman is Now Playable in Deadlock

The content developed by the mod creator (you can download the mod here) integrates Gordon Freeman into the game, replacing the Venator character in Deadlock. The character model doesn’t just offer visual changes; weapon animations and melee moves are also adapted to the Half-Life theme. Players can choose between the classic crowbar or various melee combat variations.

The mod pack reportedly includes over 90 deleted audio lines. Additionally, an optional file allows for replacing weapon sound effects like the MP5 and SPAS12 with Half-Life versions. This enhances the experience, not only visually but also audibly, with a nostalgic feel. The developer also mentioned working on the possibility of adding HEV voiceovers, but stated that this could significantly alter the overall gameplay.

Deadlock was initially planned as a spin-off connected to the Half-Life universe. Therefore, Gordon Freeman’s inclusion is seen as a detail referencing the series’ roots. While some commentators noted that the character looks somewhat different in the modern Deadlock structure, it was generally well-received by the community.

The mod developer also announced plans to add the G-Man character to the game later. While an official Half-Life announcement is awaited, these kinds of community projects keep fans engaged.
