Grove Street Games Reacts Strongly to Rockstar
Thomas Williamson, the CEO of Grove Street Games, has come down hard on Rockstar Games following the latest GTA Trilogy update. The unexpected update to 2021’s disappointing Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition has largely fixed the game’s issues and brought some surprising changes.
Grove Street Games Removed from Update Screen
In the latest update, Grove Street Games’ name was removed from the splash screen. This has been interpreted as Rockstar’s attempt to push Grove Street Games, the game’s main developer, into the background. Thomas Williamson called the move “a despicable move” on social media, stating that the move was discrediting. The CEO of Grove Street Games implied that hundreds of fixes had been ignored by Rockstar for years.
The new update improved the game’s visuals and revamped some gameplay features. For console users, the game is said to offer a better experience. These improvements have led players to question why such a comprehensive update was made after three years. Claims that the Video Games Deluxe team also contributed to the update offer some clues about the source of the changes.
Rockstar Games has remained silent on the update and Williamson’s statements. While the complete omission of Grove Street Games from the credits of the GTA trilogy leaves a vague hint that the relationship between the two companies may continue, it remains to be seen whether Rockstar will respond to Williamson’s claims.
