Hazelight Shared Behind-the-Scenes Footage from their New Game
Hazelight, after It Takes Two and Split Fiction, broke its silence regarding its new project with a small but noteworthy announcement. A behind-the-scenes photo released by studio founder Josef Fares, while not providing official details, indicates that the new Hazelight game has moved beyond the idea stage and is now taking concrete steps in the production process.
Hazelight Enters Production Phase for New Game
The image shared by Josef Fares on social media shows actors in full-body motion capture suits. Interestingly, the actors’ faces are covered by Fares’ arm. This has been interpreted as both a humorous touch and a sign that details about the project are being kept secret for now. Fares captioned his post “Next game in the making,” while the Hazelight team further heightened excitement by saying, “We’re in the kitchen, cooking something delicious.”
In previous interviews, Fares stated that the new game was still in the early stages of development and that approximately 130 pages of concept art had been prepared for the story. This new sharing suggests that the project has now moved beyond the concept stage and entered the performance capture phase. This means that a significant hurdle has been overcome on the production side of the game.
On the other hand, Fares also spoke about the film adaptation of Split Fiction. The director stated that he had seen the first draft of the script and that he had spoken with Sydney Sweeney, who is expected to be involved in the project. However, no official details have yet been shared regarding the genre, theme, or gameplay of Hazelight’s next game.
Hazelight has previously achieved great success with games centered on cooperative storytelling. Therefore, the new project is expected to offer an innovative co-op experience. The behind-the-scenes footage might be a small hint, but it’s already clear that the studio is preparing another ambitious production.
