Silent Road Announced
Endflame, which made a strong foray into Japanese horror with Ikai, returns this time with a much quieter yet equally unsettling experience. Silent Road puts the player behind the wheel of a night-shift taxi driver on dark forest roads, promising a gradually unsettling atmosphere.
Silent Road Draws the Player Into the Night
Silent Road is set in a remote forest region in Japan known for its tragic events and eerie past. Players control a taxi driver who navigates deserted mountain roads and abandoned villages in the dead of night. Each passenger brings much more than just an ordinary ride, and the feeling of “something’s not right” grows stronger as the game progresses.
Gameplay-wise, Silent Road centers on classic Japanese horror. Instead of fast-paced chases, silence, dialogue, and environmental clues are prioritized. The player often simply listens, watches, and senses the impending danger. This approach allows the fear to creep in gradually, not suddenly.
The passengers stand out as one of the game’s most unsettling elements. Strange behavior, strange requests, and unfinished stories occasionally force the player to leave the safety of the vehicle. These moments stand out as some of the most powerful details that enhance Silent Road’s psychological tension.
With Silent Road, Endflame clearly returns to its J-Horror roots in Ikai. The foggy roads, cold color palette, and suspense emanating from the darkness already make the game an intriguing prospect for fans of games like Silent Hill and Fatal Frame. Silent Road is scheduled to be released for PC via Steam in 2026.
