Heroes of Might and Magic Team Committed to Early Access
Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, the return of the legendary strategy series, is aiming for a full-release quality despite being in early access, according to developer studio Unfrozen’s plans. The team’s goal is to create a first impression befitting the 30-year-old franchise and ensure it doesn’t disappoint fans’ expectations.

Producer Katya Prikhodko stated that the team doesn’t view the early access period as an ordinary testing period. “We’re treating this early access as a full release because we don’t want to waste this opportunity,” Prikhodko said, emphasizing the importance they place on the project. The developer explained that they’re working with a small team and aim to be as prepared as possible for the release.
Studio CEO Denis Fedorov stated that the new game brings a great responsibility. “Creating the first Heroes of Might and Magic game after such a long hiatus is a huge task for us. The player base is huge, expectations are high, but we believe in this project,” Fedorov said, adding that their goal is to recapture the strategy atmosphere fans have been waiting for for years.
Fedorov also spoke openly about the fact that early access won’t be perfect. He explained that balancing processes will take time, adding, “It’s impossible to please everyone. The game will constantly evolve throughout this process.” The team emphasizes that player feedback will be at the core of development.
Unfrozen is designing the Olden Era game inspired by previous games in the series. Fedorov stated that he personally admires the Heroes 2 and 3 eras, but that the new game has combined “the best elements” from each era. This approach aims to appeal to both nostalgic players and new strategy enthusiasts.
Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era has already garnered significant attention, with over a million wishlists on Steam. With an early access release planned for 2026, fans are poised to witness a modern take on the classic series.
