Hogwarts Legacy broke sales records in 2023, bringing the Harry Potter universe back to the top of the gaming world. Now, a new project being worked on by Avalanche Software suggests that the second game in the series could offer a very different experience. Hints about online competitive features, in particular, have raised the possibility that Quidditch and PvP duels, long awaited by fans, may finally be added to the game.

Job Postings Point to Multiplayer Gameplay Structure in Hogwarts Legacy 2

Recent job postings by Warner Bros. Games for Avalanche Software suggest that Hogwarts Legacy 2 is being developed as an online RPG. Specifically, the mention of technical support requirements such as “player data persistence, matchmaking, lobbies, and server infrastructure” reveals that competitive multiplayer modes may be included in the game.

These details are interpreted as a strong indication that Quidditch matches and PvP duels, which players felt were missing in the first game, may be included in the second. Furthermore, the requirement of “Wizarding World knowledge” in some job postings confirms that the project is directly connected to the Harry Potter universe.

However, the exact structure of the project being developed by Avalanche remains unclear. Some analysts suggest it could be an MMORPG, while others propose a single-player sequel alongside a separate online spin-off.

WB’s extensive hiring throughout 2025 suggests a large-scale project is on the way. Given the success of Hogwarts Legacy, it wouldn’t be surprising if the second game offered an expanded experience with both single-player and online competitive features.
