Activision released a new two-minute trailer for Black Ops 7 today. The trailer introduces The Replacer again, but this time, things are a little different. Peter Stormare’s character is no longer “The Replacer,” because he’s found his replacement—and that person is the charismatic actor Terry Crews.
The trailer opens with scenes set on a spaceship, with the cameras focusing on Jake Paul. However, Peter Stormare soon enters the scene, and after a series of strange events, Paul is ejected into space. The classic Wilhelm Scream, heard at that moment, perfectly references the series’ humorous spirit.
While a fun surprise for viewers, the trailer’s release also raised some concerns on social media. Rumors that Jake Paul would be “added to the game,” in particular, generated mixed reactions within the community. Some players joked, “This is why Battlefield should be afraid,” referencing the “blue suit” controversy in Battlefield 6.
Furthermore, Terry Crews’ energetic entrance in the trailer was met with rave reviews from fans. Crews’s humorous yet heroic style has breathed new life into the series’ cinematic trailers. At the end of the trailer, The Replacer realizes he has been “replaced” and elevates the tone to the absurd with a scene where he floats through space with a baboon.
