James Cameron spoke about the future of the Avatar series

The Continuation of the Avatar Series is Not Certain
In his latest statement, James Cameron said that the future of the Avatar series after the third film is not entirely guaranteed. According to Cameron, each new film must prove its own commercial success in order for the series to continue. Therefore, although there are plans for the fourth and fifth films, it is emphasized that the process depends on the circumstances.
Cameron also stated that if, for any reason, the planned films cannot be made, the story will not remain entirely in the dark. The director said that in this case, he could meet with the audience and share the stories he wanted to tell with the public. This approach suggests that ideas about the Avatar universe will inevitably surface in some way.
The renowned director also expressed his openness to the idea of telling the remaining stories in novel format. However, he stated that he doesn’t think this is a sustainable business model in today’s conditions. According to Cameron, cinema remains the most powerful medium for reaching a wide audience.
On the other hand, the final film in the series, Avatar: Fire and Ash, has performed strongly at the box office since its release. Its success during the holiday season shows that the series still has a large audience.
