Konami and FIFA Collaboration
FIFA has taken a big step for the FIFAe World Cup 2024 by including Konami’s popular soccer simulation eFootball in the tournament. The move comes after years of collaboration between FIFA and EA came to an end. The FIFAe World Cup will feature two major competitions on eFootball: 2v2 for console players and 1v1 for mobile platforms.
FIFA and Konami Collaboration: A Breath of Fresh Air for the FIFAe World Cup
Unlike previous years, the FIFAe World Cup 2024 will center on Konami’s eFootball. The tournament will feature two major categories: 2v2 teams competing on consoles, and individual 1v1 matches on mobile. Players from 18 different countries around the world will participate in this tournament, and qualifiers are open as of today. Interested players can find more information and take part in the qualifiers on Konami’s website.
Until 2023, the FIFAe World Cup was based on EA’s FIFA series. But with FIFA and EA parting ways, Konami came on the scene. This collaboration shows that FIFA is moving towards new strategies in e-sports. FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated that they intend to develop a new soccer simulation under the FIFA brand and that they plan to collaborate with different partners in this process. Take-Two Interactive’s 2K Sports division is among the possible names that could be involved in this project.
