Marvel Rivals Console Beta Dates Announced
Following last month’s closed alpha, a closed beta test for Marvel Rivals has been announced. This time PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam players will be able to participate. The test will begin on July 23 at 6 p.m. ET and run until August 5 at 3 a.m. ET.
Marvel Rivals Console Beta Test Details
The beta will be open to players in North America, Europe and Asia, and those selected will be able to test cross-play with other versions of the game. Those interested in participating on console should fill out a survey and wait for an email to see if they have been selected. The survey asks participants about their familiarity with PvP shooter games as well as Marvel comics, TV shows and movies. NetEase is testing cross-play to ensure a good mix between players on various platforms.
For Steam users, the process will be slightly different. Starting July 20th, there will be an option to request access on the Marvel Rivals Steam page, and “those selected will be notified immediately.”
Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly how many participants NetEase needs for this Marvel Rivals test, so those interested in signing up should apply as soon as possible.
Characters, Map and Modes Available in the Beta
Players participating in the test will be able to choose from characters such as Adam Warlock, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Groot, Hela, Hulk, Iron Man, Loki, Luna Snow, Magik, Magneto, Mantis, Namor, Peni Parker, Punisher, Rocket Raccoon, Star-Lord, Storm, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man and Venom. That’s the full roster announced so far, so those selected for the closed beta will be able to get a feel for the full range of playable characters.
The concept of Marvel Rivals is all about the Multiverse and the beta test will allow players to control four maps from two locations. Yggsgard (a mix of Yggdrasil and Asgard) features the Yggdrasill Road map and the Royal Palace, while Tokyo 2099 features Shin-Shibuya and Spider-Islands.
