Nicholas Galitzine Consumed 5,000 Calories a Day for His Role as He-Man
Nicholas Galitzine underwent a rigorous physical preparation process to transform into He-Man for the new Masters of the Universe film. The 31-year-old actor followed an intense training and nutrition program to approximate the powerful appearance of the iconic character. Galitzine’s account once again demonstrates how exhausting superhero roles can be behind the camera.
Nicholas Galitzine Underwent a Difficult Process for He-Man
Nicholas Galitzine revealed that during his preparation for the role of He-Man, he sometimes consumed up to 5000 calories a day. The actor said he worked intensely every day to gain as much muscle mass as possible in a short time. There were periods when he did about three hours of weight training a day. So, the physique you’ll see on screen isn’t just about the costume and lighting; it’s the result of serious effort and discipline.
Galitzine stated that the schedule changed as filming progressed. Initially, the goal was to gain as much volume as possible, but later, a calorie-reducing period was implemented to make the body sharper. This is where the difficult part began. The actor explained that he went through a weight loss process while filming, which particularly strained his energy levels during action scenes.
He also mentioned experiencing brain fog during the low-calorie period. Despite this, he tried to overcome this challenge every day because he needed to stay energetic for action scenes. Galitzine says that the whole process wasn’t easy, but he enjoyed the challenge. It seems that such sacrifices are inevitable to portray a physically iconic character like He-Man.
His first indulgent meal after filming was a complete reward for him. Galitzine explained that he ate sushi and pizza together, and after a long period of discipline, he couldn’t control himself at all when it came to food. In fact, the director of his next film told him to eat more and stop training because he didn’t want him to look like He-Man.
