Nintendo Switch 2 Is Getting Terribly Hot

Nintendo’s next-generation console, the Switch 2, is once again in the news due to high temperatures. With the heat wave affecting Japan, some users reported overheating. Following these complaints, Nintendo issued a statement on its official social media account, emphasizing that the console should be used within a temperature range of 5–35°C. This is the first such official guidance for the Switch 2.

Nintendo Switch 2 Issues Overheating Warning

Nintendo stated that high temperatures can negatively impact the device’s performance and, in some cases, lead to malfunctions. It also emphasized that low temperatures can negatively impact the device. Therefore, caution is required not only during summer heat but also during winter.

During the heat wave, particularly in Japan, some users reported that their devices were overheating and even experiencing shutdown issues. To prevent such issues, it’s recommended to avoid exposing the console to direct sunlight and use it in cool environments.

The Nintendo Switch 2 achieved great success, selling almost 6 million units in its first month of release. With 3.5 million units sold in the first four days, the console surpassed even Nintendo’s internal expectations.

Despite all this success, users should be cautious about the device’s thermal performance. Nintendo’s warning is crucial for the device’s longevity and trouble-free operation. It appears that the Switch 2’s sensitivity to environmental conditions will be as much a topic of discussion in the coming period as its technical merits.
