Pokémon Produces a $10,000 Pure Gold Gholdengo Figure
Over the years, Pokémon has spawned countless different products, from toys and clothing to food and jewelry, but the new Gholdengo figure is poised to become one of the most expensive on that list. Made by Japanese gold manufacturer SGC, this special figure is entirely crafted from 24-karat pure gold. Despite being only 6 centimeters tall, its price is quite high due to the materials used.
Gholdengo Figure Price Approaching $10,000
The Gholdengo figure made by SGC weighs only 15 grams. Despite this, the set selling price is 1,540,000 yen. This figure corresponds to just under $10,000 at the current exchange rate. The fact that the figure is made entirely of pure gold is the main reason for its high price despite its small size.
Pokémon and SGC didn’t stop at just this small, purchasable figure. A much larger, life-sized, gold-leaf-covered version of Gholdengo has been created for The Great Gold Exhibition in Japan. It’s reported that approximately 700 sheets of gold leaf were used in the production of this special statue.
A gold-plated Pikachu statue will also be on display at the same event. However, the life-sized Gholdengo version is not planned for sale. Therefore, the actual item available for collectors to purchase will be a 6-centimeter, 15-gram pure gold figure.
Given Gholdengo’s design, choosing such a product is quite a playful choice. Since the character is directly associated with gold coins in the games, transforming it into a real 24-karat gold figure fits the theme perfectly. Nevertheless, with a price tag of around $10,000, this Gholdengo seems more likely to appeal to luxury item enthusiasts than casual Pokémon collectors.
