Raven Software Founder Brian Raffel has Retired
Brian Raffel, along with his brother, founded Raven Software, a company that over the years became one of the leading developers in the industry. The studio reached a wide audience with both its own IPs and, especially, its contributions to the Call of Duty series. This long journey has come to an end with the official announcement.
Brian Raffel Retires After 36 Years
Raven Software announced that Brian Raffel has retired. The studio, founded in 1990, began with its first game, Black Crypt, and has since amassed a large portfolio. To date, the studio has released more than 40 games, 12 original IPs, and numerous major projects.
Brian Raffel’s career includes notable projects such as Hexen, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, X-Men Legends, and Wolfenstein. These games stood out for both their technical aspects and gameplay design for their time.
The studio is particularly known for the Call of Duty series in recent years. Having worked on various games in the series since 2011, Raven Software also played a significant role in major projects like Warzone. Most recently, the team contributed to the development of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, influencing the series’ modern structure.
With Brian Raffel’s departure, a new era seems to be beginning for Raven Software. Raffel, who for many years was one of the key figures shaping the studio’s direction, is seen as retiring, marking a significant turning point for the company’s future projects.
