Capcom’s celebratory video for Resident Evil 4 Remake included a subtle hint about the next game in the series. Although no official announcement has been made yet, well-known leaker AestheticGamer says Resident Evil 9 will be announced this year. The game’s release is expected to be in 2025 or 2026.

AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem, stated on his social media account that Capcom still plans to make its announcement plans for Resident Evil 9 this year. The source, who stated that development has reached an advanced stage, said that the possibility of a delay is low. However, it is not yet clear whether the game will be introduced at Summer Game Fest or The Game Awards.

There are various claims about the game’s release date. While some sources suggest that the game could be released before the end of Capcom’s 2025–2026 fiscal year, some point to the end of 2026. Although no exact date has been given, it is thought that there will not be a long wait after the introduction.

Official details about Resident Evil 9, produced by Resident Evil 7: Biohazard director Koshi Nakanishi, are almost non-existent. However, according to previous leaks, it is suggested that Leon S. Kennedy will be the main character in the game and that new gameplay experiments will be made in addition to classic Resident Evil elements.

Although the character Jill Valentine was initially planned to play an important role, it is claimed that this plan was shelved with changes made later. While the innovations that Capcom will bring to the series are a matter of curiosity, fans are eagerly waiting for Leon’s return. It is not known yet when Capcom will break this silence and at which event the game will be introduced. However, all eyes are on the big gaming showcases of 2024 for developments.
