Rhythm Game Stage Tour Announced
Rhythm games, which once transformed living rooms into mini-concert venues with games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, have been silent for a long time. Now, RedOctane is preparing to revive this spirit with Stage Tour. The released teaser trailer confirms that the game will be released this year, while the names and collaborations behind the project are also noteworthy. Considering the brand’s history, this announcement holds special significance for fans of the genre.
Can Stage Tour Bring Back Rhythm Games?
Stage Tour starts with a music playlist heavily focused on Rock and Metal. According to the official FAQ page, it’s possible that different genres will be added to the game in the future. The inclusion of Static-X’s “Terminator Oscillator” in the trailer clearly sets the game’s tone. A system for musicians to apply for licenses has also been prepared.
RedOctane has signed a multi-year deal with Gibson, aiming to give the game a more authentic stage feel. Collaborations with Epiphone and Kramer have also been announced. It’s been confirmed that a Gibson Kramer guitar controller will be included in one of the bundles to be sold at launch. This detail is significant for those who want to relive the experience of classic accessories.
The game will support up to four players. The roles of Lead, Groove, Drums, and Vocals can be freely combined. While dedicated peripherals are planned for each role, gamepad and keyboard support will also be available. The goal is to create a game playable with both classic hardware and a more accessible experience.
The inclusion of individuals with Guitar Hero experience in the project also raises expectations. Simon Ebejer, who held important positions during his Neversoft days, is involved. Guitar Hero founders Charles and Kai Huang are also on the advisory board. Stage Tour hasn’t yet finalized its platforms, but it’s planned to be released on many systems, including PC. It seems that rhythm games are preparing to shine again.
