Rockstar Accused of Underpaying
Rockstar, while frequently in the news, particularly due to the development of Grand Theft Auto 6, is now being discussed for an issue unrelated to the game. Data revealed by audits in the UK has revived allegations that the studio underpaid some employees. Given the recent layoffs and protests, this development has once again drawn attention to the studio.
Rockstar Employee Underpayment Allegations Revealed
According to official data released for Rockstar Games and specifically Rockstar North, it was determined that some employees were underpaid by approximately £1,400 in total during 2025. While this amount may not seem large, the fact that it has been officially documented makes the situation more serious.
This development isn’t an isolated incident. The sudden dismissal of over 30 developers working on GTA 6 in 2025, followed by union controversies, is still making headlines. At the time, the company cited “serious breaches,” while some employees argued it was an anti-union move. The legal situation remains unresolved.
Furthermore, Rockstar’s inclusion on a list compiled by the UK tax and revenue authority has made this already sensitive situation even more visible. We know similar situations have occurred at other large companies in the industry, but news of such events involving a large and prominent studio like Rockstar naturally attracts more attention.
Amidst all these discussions, all eyes remain on GTA 6. Rockstar seems determined to maintain its November 2026 release target. However, considering both the legal processes and internal studio developments, it wouldn’t be surprising to see more news of this kind in the coming period.
