SAW: Genesis Early Access Release Date Postponed Once Again

The new game, SAW: Genesis, which will bring the SAW universe to the multiplayer horror side, has been in testing for some time, and the team has gathered a lot of feedback in different conditions in recent months. Initial reactions are said to be generally positive, but the developers have a serious list of things to do regarding performance and some gameplay details. The team has decided that instead of taking the “let’s fix it later” approach, they need a little more time.

SAW: Genesis Early Access Postponed to Q1 2027

The development team announced that the early access release of SAW: Genesis has been postponed to the first quarter of 2027. The game was previously scheduled to be released in the last quarter of 2026. So the wait will be extended by a few more months, but the team says this is a decision made to directly improve quality.

SAW: Genesis is a 3v1 horror game where three players control the “accused” and one player controls the “judge.” The accused try to complete tasks, collect keys, and escape before the time runs out, while the other player tries to sabotage the entire process. On paper, it’s a concept that fits the SAW universe quite well.

The team stated that they have been testing the game under different conditions in recent months and have received both positive feedback and detailed feedback on areas needing improvement from players. Performance and gameplay notes, in particular, are cited as factors influencing the decision to postpone the release.

Frankly, rushing a game like this wouldn’t make much sense. In asymmetrical multiplayer horror games, if the balance is off or the technical aspects are flawed, the fun quickly dissipates. Since SAW: Genesis has already accepted a second delay, the team needs to at least use this time to truly improve the game. Whether we’ll see the results of this in the first quarter of 2027 remains to be seen.
